Hide personal info on a screenshot.
Found for you. Never uploaded.
Drop a screenshot. E-mails, phone and card numbers, IBANs, keys and passwords are found and covered with solid boxes, not blur. The text is read right here, in this tab: your image never leaves your device.
Three steps
Safe to share in seconds.
No account, no upload, no watermark. The download is a plain PNG without the original’s metadata.
Drop the screenshot.
Drop the file here, paste it with ⌘V or Ctrl+V, or choose it.
Check what was found.
Each find is covered and listed. Click a box to uncover it, or drag across anything else to cover it too.
Download or copy.
The covered pixels are solid in the file: nothing of the original is left to read.
What it looks for
The details people forget.
Checked the way banks check them, so ordinary numbers stay visible: card numbers by their checksum, IBANs by their check digits.
E-mail addresses
Yours, your colleagues’, your customers’: in a mail, a form or a chat.
Phone numbers
With or without a country code, however they are spaced.
Cards and IBANs
Payment card numbers and bank account numbers, checked so they are real.
Keys and passwords
API keys and tokens, passwords after a label, IP addresses.
Private by design
Your screenshot stays with you.
The text reader runs in this browser tab. The page’s security policy doesn’t allow it to send your image anywhere, and once it has read your first screenshot it works with Wi-Fi off. The only thing this site counts is that the page was viewed, never what you open in it.
How we handle dataA few things to know
Good questions.
Is my screenshot uploaded?
No. The text is read in your browser, on your device: the first time, the browser downloads the text reader (about 6 MB) from this site, and your image never leaves the tab. It is gone when you close the page. You can check: after the first screenshot, turn off Wi-Fi and open another one. It still works.
What does it find?
E-mail addresses, phone numbers, payment card numbers, IBANs, API keys and tokens, passwords written after a label, and IP addresses. Card numbers and IBANs are checked by their check digits, so dates, versions and order numbers stay visible.
What doesn’t it find?
Names, street addresses, faces and handwriting. Drag across them to cover them by hand. Always look the image over before you share it.
Why solid boxes and not blur?
Blurred and pixelated text can sometimes be read back, especially short numbers. Here the covered pixels are replaced with one solid colour in the file, so there is nothing left to recover.
Which languages does it read?
It reads text in the Latin alphabet. E-mails, numbers, IBANs and keys are written in Latin letters and digits in every language, so they are found on screenshots in any language.
Is it free?
Yes: no account, no limits and no watermark. It is made by SimpleShot, a free screenshot app for Mac that does the same in one click on every capture.
