These terms apply when you use SimpleShot, the Mac app for screenshots and screen recordings, its time proof service and this website. They are made by Stillbyte LLC, Wyoming, USA (“we”). By using SimpleShot you agree to them.

The app

SimpleShot is free to download and use, for personal and work purposes. You may install it on the Macs you use. You may not sell it, change it or present it as your own. The app, its name and its logo belong to Stillbyte LLC.

What you capture is yours. SimpleShot keeps your captures on your Mac; we receive one only when you make a link to it. You are responsible for what you capture and share, and for having the right to do so.

The time proof service

• When you ask for a time proof, the app sends a fingerprint of the image to proof.getsimpleshot.com, which signs it with the time (see Privacy). The image itself is never sent.
• A time proof shows that this exact image existed at the signed time and has not changed since. It does not show who made the image, where it was made, or whether what it shows is true.
• Up to 5 time proofs a month are free. We may change the limits, and we will say so in the app and on this site first.
• The service is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and its records readable, but we do not guarantee that it is always reachable. The Bitcoin witness (OpenTimestamps) keeps working without us.
• Do not try to overload the service, to get around its limits or to make it sign something it should not.

Links New in 1.4

• A link uploads the one capture you choose to links.getsimpleshot.com so that anyone with the link can see it (see Privacy). Share only what you have the right to share. Don’t share anything illegal, sexual content involving minors, private information about other people without their consent, malware, scams, harassment or content that infringes someone’s rights.
• Links are long, random and kept out of search engines, but a link can be forwarded. Use a password (Premium) for anything private, and delete a link when it is no longer needed.
• A link works until you delete it, until the end date you set (Premium), or until we remove it. The free plan keeps 10 links at a time (more with invites): when they are all in use, you delete one to make another. We never delete your links to make room.
• Anyone can report a link from its page. We remove links that break these terms or the law, report child sexual abuse material to the authorities, and may block the devices behind repeated abuse.
• Limits: images up to 25 MB; videos up to 2 minutes and 50 MB on the free plan, 15 minutes and 95 MB with Premium; at most 200 new links a day. “Unlimited links” with Premium means fair use for sharing captures, not file hosting.

SimpleShot Premium New in 1.4

• Premium covers what lives on our servers: unlimited links (fair use), longer videos by link, passwords, end dates and view counts on links, no “Made with SimpleShot” badge on your link pages, and unlimited time proofs. Everything SimpleShot does on your Mac stays free.
• $3 a month or $24 a year, plus tax where it applies, renewing until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe, the seller of record for SimpleShot Premium, under Stripe’s terms; Stripe handles taxes, receipts and refunds requested under its policies. The price you subscribed at does not change while your subscription continues; the first 1,000 yearly subscribers keep $24 a year for as long as it does.
• Cancel any time in SimpleShot › Settings › Links › Manage Subscription. Premium stays on until the end of the paid period. When it ends, your links keep working; new links wait until you are within the free plan’s limit.
• Premium belongs to the purchase, not to one Mac: restore it on another Mac with a one-time link sent to the e-mail address you paid with. If we ever end Premium, we refund the unused part of your period.

This website

The editor demo and the free tools on this site run in your browser; images you open there are not uploaded. Use them as you like, at your own risk.

No warranty

SimpleShot, its time proof and link services, Premium and this website are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Keep copies of anything important.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Stillbyte LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from the use of SimpleShot or its services. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for SimpleShot Premium in the last twelve months.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do; using SimpleShot after a change means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, unless the law of your country says otherwise for consumers.
