SimpleShot is a Mac app for screenshots and screen recordings made by Stillbyte LLC. This page explains what the app and this website do with information.

The app

• Your captures stay on your Mac. Screenshots, recordings and the history are saved on your Mac only, in the folders you choose and in the app's own folder. SimpleShot has no account and no cloud.
• Text recognition runs on your Mac. Copying text from the screen, searching the history and hiding sensitive data use the text recognition built into macOS, on your Mac. The text is kept in the history on your Mac so you can search it.
• The screen is captured only when you ask. SimpleShot uses the Screen Recording permission when you take a capture, record or scroll-capture, never in the background.
• The microphone is recorded only when you turn it on for a recording.
• Accessibility, if you allow it, is used only to show the keys you press during a recording and to scroll automatically during a scrolling capture.
• No tracking. The app sends no analytics, no crash reports and no usage data.
• Updates. The app checks updates.stillbyte.dev (the update host of Stillbyte LLC) for a new version. That request carries the app's version and your macOS version, like any download, and nothing about you or your captures.

This website

getsimpleshot.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.

Deleting your data

Delete the history in SimpleShot › Settings › History, or delete the app's folder ~/Library/Application Support/SimpleShot. Files you saved elsewhere stay where you put them.
